New Bidy

Image
Bidy has done well during this short winter. And creeping into this odd early spring. We were starting to lose her to some fluff she grew for the winter to stay warm.  She definitely hesitated to potty outside when it was cold. Some days she looked at you with that "you want me to go out there?" But overall she handled it well.  It was time for a haircut and to find those beautiful eyes again. She went from this cute angry look, to surprised when I trimmed her face down.  Newly, she does this side smile thing. When she's not sure, her bottom chin gives way to a smile.  She's learned her schedule, when meal time is. When she hears the cutting board she's learned she'll get some veggies or fruit.  She's absolutely darling!!

Weekend Chill

Miss Bidy is ironically again adjusting to winter quite well. She does pee on the sidewalk, that cold wet, frosted grass isn't pleasant I'm sure.  We've given her a haircut and surprisingly again, she took it like a champ.  She loves to cuddle. She's learned she has a voice. lol When I get home she barks until I give her attention. Working on letting her know barking won't get her way. Especially when she knows I'm cutting up cucumbers or apples, she doesn't get any until she calms down.  But it's cute to see her go from running and cowering to "hey I want that!"

Bidy the Pumpkin

Bidy's first halloween!! My other one knew what a costume was, he's been a part of photo shoots with my little. But Bidy was just adorable. She did well as a fluffy pumpkin. She did amazing with all the kids that wanted to pet her. She was so gentle and cute. She lets my daughter walk her until she had to go up to the house to get candy. She has been adapting to the cooling weather quite well actually. Usually our Alabama dogs hate it, especially the smaller ones. Her fur coat has definitely grown in to accommodate the cold. I've had to clip her nails and shave around her face to help her see. She's held so beautifully still. She has learned she has a voice. When she wants attention she will bark to let you know she needs pets. She's found a new love for veggies and fruits, when I am at the cutting board, she is yelling at me to share. She loves cucumbers, bananas, apples, strawberries, you name it! Our new kitten just loves to catch Bidy's tail when she's...

Bidy and a cat

We have a new friend and Bidy has not a care in the world. The kitty wants to play and rubs against Bidy, and she doesn't care. lol This is perfect tolerance for small animals. She also has a the same tolerance for my daughter.  Learning as I check in on the kitten that although Bidy has anxiety when we leave, she calms down and passes out until we get home. That is a relief as it worried me that she had separation anxiety.  Still working on potty training. It's harder with southern dogs not used to the colder weather. And we woke to her limping this weekend and a swollen foot. Not sure what it was, but it appeared to be something in the paw and it opened up and we cleaned it up and she's much better this morning. Thank goodness it turned around fast.  Through the limping she was her excited sweet self trying to follow me everywhere. So I carried her and she was spoiled for a day. She's totally worth it.

1 month update

It's been one month, and she has grown so much.  She doesn't like the crate and doesn't really like being in an enclosed space. However we're still working on potty training so it means we can't let her roam. She's slowly getting better.  She's learning she has a voice. When you come  home and don't pet her she'll let you know. It's a bark slight howl. It's super cute.  She loves her human or humans. She loves to cuddle. My own dog doesn't snuggle, too much fur and gets too hot. So it's nice to have a dog who will snuggle!!  She will now eat regularly and she's a little food hunter. She is shy until she smells food. She WILL take it off your plate! She just started enjoying fruit and working on vegetables. She likes mango and apples. 😁  She's getting less skittish when I go pick her up. She knows when we walk toward the door it's to click on her leash and go outside. That's become routine.  We'll see w...

Better day by day

She's eating regularly and even anticipates when she hears those bowls!  She has learned just how high she can jump, and boy is it high for her little fluffy body.  She finally comes to us when we let her outside. Still a little hesitant when we pet her. But her tail hits so hard, you'd think it's hurting.  She loves to cuddle and will come right up to you if were laying down. And she will snuggle and stay there.  Still working on potty training, she has little accidents. But fully capable. Considering her background, so much better than I expected.

1 week progress

Bidy is doing well. It took her to the 3rd day with us to finally eat (with some motivation chicken and rice). For the most park, she is potty trained. She has accidents here and there, but for a puppy mill dog, it's REALLY good.  She's learned to jump on couches and with steps the bed. And BOY does she like the bed!!  She's still learning to get pets. She wants them but still runs off when you extend a hand. She does pick you hand occasionally.  This morning, she actually walked over to me in bed to pick me until I started petting her.  What huge progress compared to day 1!
